while centralizing business processes and data management

The advent and improvement of computer networking and social media has changed the business landscape for micro-small-medium enterprises (MSMEs), allowing them to level the playing field by engaging their consumers directly through the internet while centralizing business processes and data management.

Computer servers in the past were mainly used by large enterprises and multinational corporations who valued data security, and centralized IT service operation.

It was rare for smaller businesses to have their own server due to the prohibitive cost and maintenance of servers, with the cheapest easily reaching the six-figure mark.

Servers serve as an integral component in any business especially in today’s highly mobile lifestyle. The ability to accelerate and efficiently produce business results by interconnecting several devices will come a long way in growing the business by lowering operational costs and easier data management.

Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) is hoping to empower MSMEs by offering a new line of microservers with the newest HP Proliant Line which offers full dedicated server capabilities without breaking the bank.

The new HP Proliant MicroServer Generation 8 is marketed by HP as the ideal first server that provides simplified setup,MileWeb Public Cloud Servers management and maintenance thanks to HP Smart Technologies which simplifies otherwise complicated server tasks which would have required an IT specialist.

Designed for organizations with less than 10 employees, the HP MicroServer Gen8 shares and secures critical information in a central server. Data and applications housed on the server are remotely accessible from virtually any web-connected device with Microsoft Windows server 2012 Essentials.

The HP Proliant Microserver offers centralized, anywhere, anytime data access to employees to boost productivity and collaboration through data sharing. Its small form factor – the server is a 9-inch cube, allows it to be transported easily to different locations such as different branches or home offices. It boasts a maximum storage capacity of 16TB thanks to 4 front-mounted hard drive bays.

HP also released to the Philippine market the HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8, a full-tower sized server with enterprise-class manageability which is geared for remote or branch offices that need to boost productivity and connectivity and simplify management with maximum server uptime thanks to its hot-swappable hard drives capable of data redundancy and backup power supply system.

Meanwhile, the HP ProLiant DL320e Gen8 is a Xeon-powered compact, single processing rack-optimized server which is ideal for single application uses such as factory automation, medical, transportation, telecom and military purposes. The server meets the unique space, mobility, management and budget challenges that SMBs and embedded market customers must resolve.

All three servers boast of several technologies which help maximize availability and performance. Its automated system assessment capability with remote server health update allows businesses to focus on their business without having to worry about the server’s uptime. In the case of a failure, HP engineers can easily pinpoint and solve issues thanks to a health log the affected server sends to HP.

The servers leverage several server innovations exclusive to HP which enables SMB costumers to simplify system installation, setup and maintenance thanks to the HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Management Engine and HP Intelligent Provisioning.

HP Active Health automatically assess the servers for optimum health via an always on, continuous monitoring system for increased stability while HP Smart Update manages enclosure, platform and I/O card firmware on HP servers to help reduce downtime due to firmware upgrades, and automates the process of upgrading firmware to reduce complexity and keep servers up and running.

The HP Proliant Server Gen8 is now available at HP retailers starting at P43,500. It will come with a single CPU and a 1TB hard disk drive as well as a stackable HP networking switch. For the server only, price starts at P37,000.
